Rather than have two stickies clutter up the top of the board, I'm putting the info for both chats into one sticky thread =) Yay, no more people asking "Where's the chat room?"!

*ahem* Anyways, there are several different servers on which Nationstates IRC chats are held:

    Espernet:
    IRC SERVER: irc.esper.net
    Port:5555, 6666, 6667, 6668, 6669, 7000
    #NationStates : For NS chat
#NationStates_General : For NationStates chat specifically for General forum posters
#Nationstates_Politics : For Real Life Political Discussion
#NationStates_Technical : The IRC equivelent of the Technical Forum
#NationStates_Underground: Started by California and Alaska, described as being something of a hybrid of #nationstates and #nationstates_general, for IC, OOC, and generally everything. Sorta like the Gameplay forum.
#unitednations : For discussion of UN related matters.
#NationStates_Diplomacy : For discussing international diplomacy
    #InternationalLeadersLounge : For roleplay - recently reopened
#nationstates_rp : Another spinoff channel for roleplaying.
#sport : IC discussion about Nationstates sports, particular the World Cup series.
#internationalincidents : Channel for folks who frequent the International Incidents forum.
#nationstates_2: Channel for the discussion of the upcoming sequel to Nationstates.

For further assistance, I have an old FAQ that I wrote for another website that contains a very thorough walkthrough for mIRC.

    Hopefully that covers everything =)

    Greetings,

I would like to let it be known that I am the lead operator of the #nationstates channel on irc.esper.net. If you have any problems with someone there, please log the activity and contact me either on the channel, or through a TG. Please have some common sense while chatting and avoid spam/flame/flood etc. Thanks, and enjoy!

In the spirit of Karma's above post, if someone is giving you a hard time or otherwise going out of bounds on uplink2k.com, let me know. You can find me on U2k 24/7, look for KitBox or KitBoxPocket (or some derivative thereof). You can also Telegram me, but I'm not likely to get that for a while because I don't check my inbox very often. You can also look for Praedon, Isaac, or Kaijin, all of whom are IRCops or admins on the network, in case I am idle.

And of course, no spamming, flooding, flaming, cyb0r53X0ring, etc. ^_^

See this thread ( #ILL Rules and Regulations ) for rules governing the chatroom:

    #internationalleaderslounge
    irc.esper.net

Ignorance of these setting rules is no excuse to disobey them. Read and be educated before you join please.

*Notes once again that +m is the fucking most stupid thing an op can do*

*sits in the channel, voiceless, without ops in there*

Instead of +m and devoicing a user when he does something wrong, how about kick/kickban?

Something that DOES NOT accidentally turns against people suffering from disconnects and missing ops...

Not really, it's very useful. You can keep people in a room so they can see what they're missing, whilst being immune to their whinings....

    I love it.

And we need MORE PEOPLE in the EsperNet IRC rooms!!!!

*cattle-prods you lot into the IRC rooms*

It can easily be countered though by people who know a lot about IRC. I know one way it could currently be countered, but I won't say what it is so that no one can take advantage of it.

Everyone, please get mIRC. It is simply a blast.

Just today, we had a semi-IC battle raging between Sirithil (leading a small coaliton) and Ruhr (leading a large coalition). Of course, Sirithil won because she cheats and ignores.

Seriously, it is a lot of fun and a great quick discussion forum.

Seconded. Although some people don't appreciate the British sense of humour...

Most of our users are on United States Eastern Time, so you're on pretty early for them.
