I have decided to post a thread linking to all of the information important to my nation here. Karshkovia is based off of the Real-Life Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Georgia and a smattering of my own ideas.

Federal Security Service of the Karshkovian Republic (FSB)

Equal to: FBI,NSA, MI5, US Customs, DEA, BATF

The FSB is involved in counter-intelligence, internal and border security, counter-terrorism, and surveillance. It deals in mainly domestic affairs however; it can conduct anti-terrorist military operations anywhere in the World if ordered by the President.

The FSB is responsible for internal security of Karshkovia, counter-espionage, and the fight against organized crime, terrorism, and drug smuggling.

Federal Agency of Government Communications and Information (FAPSI)

Director - lavko Juraga

Equal duties as: (none known)

The FAPSI is Karshkovia’s Internet and Information Technology agency, working under the SVR. FAPSI is responsible for Government communications, design and development of Security measures including Security of Communications.

The FAPSI is responsible for all code cracking and creation inside of Karshkovia and maintains Karshkovia’s Cryptography Bureau. It trains and employs hackers and crackers as well as doing the R&D for all equipment used for clandestine missions inside and outside of Karshkovia.

Federal Protective Service of Karshkovia (FSO)

Director: General Ivan Pelovia

Equal to: US Secret Service, US Marshals.

The FSO is responsible for the protection of Karshkovian state property and high-ranking government personnel and their immediate family. The FSO guards and protects the President, Prime Minister and their daughter, as well as handling the nuclear-codes (aka ‘Black Briefcase’) via members of the special military unit, the Presidential Guard.

The FSO is a powerful institution with a range of rights and powers, including the right to conduct searches and surveillance without warrants, make arrests, and give orders to other state agencies. It also operates the secure high-level communications system and the secure deep-rail subway system used by the government in case of attack against the capital (or nuclear attack on the country). This subway runs over two hundred miles to a secure bunker somewhere in the Karshka mountains, which is also guarded and staffed by the Presidential Guard.

The agency is headed by General Ivan Pelovia, and supervised by the Radchenko’s bodyguard Viktor Valski. The service is subordinate to Vladimir Radchenko, however his orders are allowed to be ignored if they would put himself, Karshkovia, or the Prime Minister in imminent danger.

Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Karshkovian Republic (GRU)

The GRU is Karshkovia’s main military intelligence agency, run by the military. This service is tasked with gathering intelligence for the Military branches in Karshkovia, mainly on foreign military strengths and movements.

The GRU activities encompass those performed by nearly all joint foreign military intelligence agencies as well as other national organizations ran by Karshkovia. The GRU gathers human intelligence through military attaches and foreign agents as well as using surveillance aircraft such as a FOXBAT and SR-71.

Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR)

Director: Dusan Gavrich

Equal To: CIA, MI6,

The SVR is Karshkovia’s largest external Intelligence agency. It’s main missions are to implement active measures to ensure Karshkovia’s security, conduct military, strategic, economic, scientific and technological espionage, Protect employees of Karshkovian institutions overseas and their families; Provide personnel security for Russian government officials and their families; Conduct joint operations with foreign security services; Conduct electronic surveillance in foreign countries. FAPSI is subordinate to the SVR.

The SVR includes the following Departments:

Bureau of Political Intelligence – It is responsible for intelligence and espionage around the world.

Bureau of Illegal Intelligence (BI2) – responsible for preparing and planting ‘illegal agents’ overseas, conducting terror operations and sabotage in foreign countries, “biological espionage”, and recruitment of foreign nations for intelligence or espionage / sabotage missions.

Bureau of Scientific and Technical Intelligence – Responsible for gathering all Scientific and Technical knowledge available.

Bureau of External Counter-Intelligence – responsible for infiltrating foreign intelligence and security agencies and exercising surveillance over Karshkovian citizens abroad.

Bureau of Operational and Technical Support – responsible for moving intelligence from different agencies to agents or government officials who require the intelligence data.

Bureau of Planning and Analysis – Designs and evaluates SVR operations abroad.

Bureau of Computer Services (information and dissemination) – Responsible for analyzing and distributing data. It publishes a daily current events summaries for the President and senior staff.

Bureau of Cryptography – responsible for creating secure communications for Government agencies and breaking codes of foreign governments.

Bureau of Computer Intelligence (FAPSI) - Mentioned above

Bureau of Economic Intelligence – responsible for maintaining accurate intelligence on the economies of foreign nations around the world. It also prepares and plants agents in strategic positions in governments and corporations, which can be used to provide sensitive/classified financial and economic intelligence back to the SVR. They also can be used to destabilize the economy of a foreign nation.

VEGA Group - This is a special forces unit under the direct control of BI2, which specializes in deep penetration, sabotage, universal and direct covert action, embassy protection and espionage cell activation (in case of war). They also specialize in nuclear safety and security for Karshkovia’s nuclear arsenal.

VEGA is made up of the following units:

Alfa – Deep Penetration and Sabotage Unit: They are responsible for placing their highly trained operatives inside Foreign soil to conduct missions deemed vital to Karshkovian interests. This would include activities such as infiltration of a military base to destroy a prototype weapons system with little or no evidence of KGF involvement. This unit would also be responsible for assassinations of Foreign VIPs

Sheliv - Terrorist Penetration Unit. They are responsible for penetrating terrorist organizations and providing intelligence about the organization while also providing sabotage efforts against the terrorists. Operatives in Sheliv are only known to the President and Sheliv’s leaders.

Zeblo - Embassy Protection Unit. They are responsible for embassy protection of staff and their families, the destruction of confidential files and equipment if an embassy is overun. They are trained to pose as regular embassy staff but are highly trained in escape, evasion, counter-terrorism and close-quarters combat. Zeblo often keeps safe houses in the city and around the nation where Karshkovian embassies exist, in case an embassy is over run and the staff must be evacuated.

Vymich – Espionage Cell Unit. This unit is tasked with setting up cells internal and abroad, which would perform espionage and sabotage in times of great national need. This unit penetrates vital points in foreign military and civilian organizations. Cells are tasked with destroying vital national and military assets if called upon. This unit also trains foreign irregular and guerrilla armies friendly to Karshkovian interests abroad.

All VEGA personal undergo extreme mental and physical training including special weapons, improvised and specialized explosives and weapons, terrorist training (to understand the tactics terrorists would use and how to counter it), counter-terrorist training, close hand combat, close quarters combat, parachute training, diving, underwater combat, climbing (rock and smooth surface), ropetech alpinism, sabotage and Espionage training.
