I personally have had enough of this type of update, yea we know you are working on coding and blah blah. I want real info from Sean and Brian about how the game will be run, such as:

1. Will you be as terrible as Roisin with a flood of insanely ridiculous changes all in one round? Will you actually put a bit of thought into the impact of changes before throwing them in for kicks?

2. Will you actually acknowledge the presence of bugs when reported and let us know they are being worked on, instead of ignoring us for several days like the current system? I really don't want to have to PM Lydias for every stupid bug.

3. Will you listen to the MANY people pointing out flaws in the trading system and actually try to improve it? For example, my activation email still has the username of the previous player's account that I traded into 2 ages ago. So using that email, nubs will try logging in with wrong info.

4. Will you make an attempt to not suck as much as the rest of OMAC at running this game? If UC is going to be your baby, then don't be crackhead parents who try selling the baby for dope. A little nourishment and attention would be lovely.

5) Are there any long-term plans for the game?
6) When did you (Brian & Sean) get involved with this game, and are you playing it?
7) Now that it is obvious that UK (Utopia Kingdoms, aka Fake Utopia) bears no resemblance to Utopia other than the name, will you reconsider changing Utopia's name to Utopia Classic?
8) Will the guide be improved or left as is?
9)

Q: Will UC still have the premium user option, and if so will it be the same as it is currently?

A: It's going to stay the same as it is currently. We're going to put in new premium features down the line, but there won't be any "pay-to-win" nonsense.

Q: Can you give us some hints on what those features might be?

A: Not yet.
We were told something similar about Fake Utopia. It's been a month since that interview, anything you'd care to share?
10) Will you be answering questions we ask here, or is the comments section just for entertainment?

We’re testing things as we go, and are killing all the bugs we come across as we find them. When all the features above are done, we’re going to spend a while doing pure internal testing to find the obvious bugs, before going to alpha to track down the more subtle ones.
This makes me happy.

If there is not much to put in your blog then answering some of those questions would not be a bad thing to do

Have they decided who's doing the alpha/beta testing yet?

Continued

To Brian and Sean,

I know and understand you guys are programmers, but We would like more information except for how development is going. You see the 1-11 items above that should be answered and yet I have not seen OMAC be actively involved with the community at all.

I do not mean to complain, but to point out your flaws and HOPE that you change these things and foster a better community.

Right now, there are about 17,000 or so users on Utopia. We have been here for some 9 years and while here our past owner knew and got involved within the community. All we get are very few weekly updates on the new code and nothing truly inspiring.

As far as we know, no one within Omac plays utopia or is even apart of the community. We never see any omac user on IRC and we are not told really any facts.

Since you are not on IRC nor any other communication with utopia as far as we know, ou don't see it but you have a big problem on your hands that could fester into something more. Utopians do not trust Omac to do whats best for utopians. The over all community is extremely upset with what isn't happening and we see no changes in that.

In the past our community has been over 100,000 users strong and has dwindled since then, losing users day by day. I have yet to see an uptick in membership and from the looks of it. I will not see one.

I think I speak for a vast majority of the community when I say that if Omac doesn't change its ways in the community and treat it with more respect, you will probably see a much greater loss than there is now. Because we are a community, we are not just a bunch of people playing games. We have lived, laughed and some have even loved with people they met here, so I ask you to do they same.

If you want to continue to see the strong players in Utopia stay, then I suggest changing the way you participate in our community. Starting with Sean and Brian. Answer our questions, even though our developers, answer our questions. We need to know what is going on with the game/community we have spent so much time in and given so much of our time to. Because if you don't you will lose more than just the community, you will lose the users of utopia. And all that time spent developing new code for utopia will have gone to waste.

So please start participating in the community. Im sure any user can point you to the most popular IRC channel around. Why don't you sit in it and just listen to people talk about what they think about Omac.

The channel is #strategy. The problem with this entire thing is I just spent more time writing this, than you guys spend posting answers on the blog.

Help us out and do the right thing.

Thanks Sean and Brian.

And how many players are on IRC? Maybe 10% actively? Come on...

We don't need them to talk in IRC, just answer the questions about the future of Utopia, not just coding. If these are the permanent caretakers of our beloved Uto, we need to know how they will manage it. Roisin has been pretty terrible, and old code isn't an excuse for shredding game balance and throwing race combos in a blender for fun.

We need you guys to take the time to understand the game, the community, and the pulse of Utopia. Right now the game is dying, OMAC is driving players away, and doing nothing to try to convince any straggling newcomers to stay, and our world is in utter chaos.

They're paid and trained to program and design, not answer questions, or work with us.

Very sad.

Step one: replace everything that works.
Step two: blame the predictable epic fail on outside forces.
Step three: keep the community informed that no progress has been made since the last update.
Step four: thank you for your patience.
