Booo, I was hoping for alpha to be back up this week

Edit: And from what I remember, a reason we stopped working on the wiki cause was alpha was kind of changing everything... it didn't (and sorta still doesn't) make a whole lot of sense to write up formulas and whatnot based on the old code, or layout pages and stuff...

And your upgrade to SoMs has completely ruined pretty much everything that involves SoM translations that's in the wiki :p

Oh, and I'm first. I believe I'm required by internet law to mention that, or something

For too long this game has been in decline. Bugs have gone ignored and new features haven’t been possible because the code base became too unwieldy to amend and the original developer lost interest. Sean and I decided to open this can of worms, make sense of it and get it back on track. We’ve been working non-stop on rebuilding it for over 6 months. In just the last week we’ve fixed over 150 bugs. Ask yourself, when was the last time that so much work was being done on this game? This game now has a fantastic chance of renewed growth and long life.
Cute! Blame Mehul for the decline while the game never declined this fast while Mehul had the lead, in the mean time pride yourself over solving 150 self created bugs. Rofl. But gotto give you this, never before was so much work being done on this game, if I remember Mehul even created it in a shorter timespan than this abomination called rewrite.

Your refusal to end Genesis is ridiculous, and shows how little you know about what people put into this game, even Genesis. It is EXHAUSTING having ages this long. Just end it ffs.

"Luth: Can we PLEASE just end genesis now?

That’s not going to happen until the new game is ready to go."

Why is this?

Sentence removed by Lydias

I don't understand how your thought-processes work, but then again, I'm not an awesome developer, who blames the old developer for the billions and one 'new' bugs recoding something you don't even understand has caused.

"1st: We make sure the Alpha is running smoothly.

2nd: We run Genesis on the new code and make sure it is running smoothly.
1st: We make sure the Alpha is running smoothly.

2nd: We run Genesis on the new code and make sure it is running smoothly." I'll believe this when I see it, which is likely to be somewhere after Duke Nukem Forever is released.

"This game now has a fantastic chance of renewed growth and long life." No, no really.
All you're doing is giving us more promises, building up your self-earned hype, which you'll soon be completely unable to deliver on.

"We’ve been working non-stop on rebuilding it for over 6 months. " With all due respect, I doubt that.

i don't expect we will play wol and gen under new code in mid of sept

my suggestion is:
1) turn off gen server just end it or turn off..
2) keep WOL now as its will go in to full ages
3) genesis runs for 1 ages (2month) b4 WOL is taking place into new code

oh.. my... god...

i'd call it unbelievable if it weren't so believable...

- you won't end a 6 month gen age. that's bullshit. 6 months = 2 FULL ages, when we were supposed to have a 3-4 WEEK age to start with... TAKE IT DOWN UNTIL THE BETA IS READY.

>>>Luth (re. Spell page redesign): It was my understanding that we were supposed to be receiving essentially the same product we have currently … So why, exactly, B&S, are you making such changes? because it seems to me that could be contributing to the continual delays.

We said from the outset that save for a few navigational changes the game would be the same. We knew that this was important to the community. We’ve gone to incredible lengths to ensure that this new version is a true representation of the original. If anything, it’s largely our dedication to faithfully replicating this game that has delayed us, not making fanciful changes on a whim.<<<

ummm.. not making "fanciful changes on a whim".... so what do you happen to call the complete (and utterly stupid) rework of the mystics page then? that reworked page resembles NOTHING like we have currently in the game, and that's what you call a "true representation of the original"???

STOP MAKING STUPID CHANGES and get the damn thing done already. we were told in the beginning 8 weeks for the new code, it's been like 6-7 months since OMAC took over? (and no, i'm not surprised).

and would someone PLEASE fix the front page?

Gen - running until the 2nd of never...
WoL - running until OMAC feels like they've lost enough of their user base to end it...

Luth (re, Spell page redesign): Are you still going to split them into “instant”, “timed”?

We haven’t decided yet. We’ve gotten both positive and negative feedback on that.

Why not make it optional, so that any player can chose the style he prefers (split-up/non-split-up)?

no, why not leave it like it is so they can get the damn code done. once it's done and running, THEN they can look at making these kinds of changes, but it's not what was represented to us from the start

Thank you for clarifying.

Keep the wiki password protected. I'd like to know that the formulas I'm using are the correct ones and not one that some nub that just started playing last week came up with.

Also, could you please tell me the harm in not just ending Gen? You don't need to start a new one, just end this one. It's gone on for 2 age lengths already. Enough is enough.

I say plan for worst case and continue resetting WoL and Genesis as if the new code will take another year. If It happens to be working sooner and you need to stop genesis only a few weeks after a reset then great! Everyone will be happy because they get a new code and you guys don't have to listen to all the whining about missed deadlines.

S and B, why on earth is it taking so long? Do you work on Utopia on the 2nd Tuesday of each month? This is not fancy graphics or The Sims...this is a text based browser game. Ye gods, something does not smell right here. Explain please!

As for unpassword protecting the wiki so any numpty can post, could you explain how you think that this will add any kind of value? A nasty suspicion I have is that OMAC's inadequacies in relation to Uto has driven off those who would have edited the wiki - and therefore you are forced to fall back on random passers by who fancy a bit of wiki fun. Would you care to clarify?
