Server Side Mods
ADVERTISEMENT: Hi all
SSM - Server Side Mod A mod that needs no downloads or any kind of installation on your computer -> Join and play! During last year i completed 3 Server Side Mods that was originally intended to run on our puplic server and did indeed run there with success with 20-30 players online. However keeping the server admined did take more time than expected and we also started to play more on the jolt community which eventually left our server empty except for tranning / drilling. Instead of loosing these mods in the "forgotton folder" maybe Adams would consider to set up a SSM (Server Side Mod) server to runs these and find out if the community would get a kick out of these. The mods are buildt on the general principles as the jolt SSM's Flaming Dart and the new Irving mod but still offers some new twists without being extreme like the SSM's you find on TKO server. They have been tested on live populated server without having tech issues. Map setting for these are Fall Of Saigon, Ceder Falls and Fall Of lang Vei. Who knows, it could be a server that would keep the community live and kicking and maybe even get other good SSM's up and running there to be a regular populated server. Sure, there is a bit to tell so i will keep this in the short version for now.
Fall Of Saigon SSM ------------------ Original mod has nothing in the air except the huge slow us transport plane / bomber with the minigun as side gunner. There are a few heavy tanks on there like the Patton. Originally mod also have the soviet wire guided missile launcher. SAIGON CITY Vehicles include 1 tank and 2 jeeps. I pretty much opened up the city of saigon which is "out og bounds" area on the original mod, now you have a map with urban fighting combined with jungle fighting. Arvin main was relocated to the city of saigon and a spawn tower (like flaming dart towers) added to the arvin air field. All supplies for the arvin air field goes through the city of saigon which mean whoever controls saigon controls supplies, that means no choppers spawn for the arvin if they do not control saigon. ARVIN AIR FIELD Vehicles include 2 huey slicks and 1 chinook. 1 sheridan tank, the m113 flame thrower, m113 apc and a few jeeps. Also 2 PBR boats added to the dock area. FORWARD ARVIN BASE Vehicles include 2 jeeps ARTY HILL Not a flag base but important strategic area with 2 long range m110 artillary guns. RIVER BASES Vehicles include 1 jeep. 2 flag bases on this small island makes this an important area which also have 1 NVA spawn tower. FARM HOUSE Vehicles include 1 jeep. NVA MAIN Vehicles include 1 ZSU, 1 heavy tank, 1 transport truck which was converted to a mobile spawn point (NVA can spawn in this truck), 2 jeeps. AMMO/HEALTH ARVIN Originally the arvin was intended to be totally dependent on air cav bringing in supllies (ammo and health) in the form of the air cav spawn boxes which was converted to be supply boxes only, removing the mobile spawn from these. To stress the importance of these supplies the arvin could not use health and ammo boxes on the map excepts at saigon city and the air field, this was done to simulate the nva supperior knowledge of the battleground as they can use all health / ammo boxes. This hole feature could seem a bit extreme but it did indeed add a nice reality twist to the games, however i could easely remove this if not liked by players. LANG VEI INFANTRY SSM ------------------------ I made some adjustments to the original mod which should make it more fun. The original mod had a lot of air vehicles cramped into a small map that would mean a lot of rape ect, with 1 mi8, 1 cargo spawn mi8, 1 cobra and 1 slick. All air was removed. - Both teams have 1 tank spawn at main, PT76 and sheridan - Both teams have 1 APC spawn at main, M113 and BTR60, these apc's are special as they are spawn vehicles you can spawn in - 1 jeep spawn at mains Med packs: Each team have 2 M60/M79 medic kit spawn at mains to give this map medics that could help out teammates. Thats it, no more vehicles as this is a very small map which brings a lot of infantry action without long walks. I think these mods sound very interesting indeed.
I've always hated the long walks on FoS when you didn't get a tank or jeep or spawned at a flag with no vehicles at all just to run into an enemy tank on your way towards the next flag so i think the transport helis could be a lot of help.The idea of arvn troops not being able to use health or ammo boxes really seems a bit extreme lol But one would have to test in game i guess how it really works within the team to get the support you need. But I also think its a good means of balancing out the advantage of arvn having slicks and being able to cover large distances quickly. FoLV A very good idea I think was removing all air vehicles in this rather small map. ![]() As most know I'm a pure infantry man so that just sounds like the right server mod for me ;-) FoLV always had some nice spots for snipers but they were too easily spotted by enemy helis and close infantry combat too often was just blown up by attack choppers shooting missile after missile into groups of enemies. Especially if the main base was last flag and the mi8 was just circling over it getting tons of kills. So my opinion so far. well done sgt. gunner. ![]() Would love to play them. ![]()

Thx for the positive feedback, could someone let Adams know about this thread so he can consider setting up a SSM server running these mods? I would be happy to document a few more SSM's if the server would be set up.
